Because one of the reasons for the success of the most iconic action movies was the amazing soundtracks.
Sequels of the most famous action movie franchises of the eighties (and onwards) will be out soon. Many have not aged very well, to be honest, but they were an absolute blast even years after release. Music and OST played they part in the success, so I decided to have a look at the past to listen some the most badass tracks of the era.

1) Cobra (1986)
Song: Feel The Heat by Jean Beauvoir (1986)
Sylvester Stallone wrote the script and also played as the main protagonist, along with his wife at that time and co-star Brigitte Nielsen. Sly rearranged his ideas of the discarded screenplay of the movie Beverly Hills Cop, which was decided to be more comedic.
“You're the disease ... and I'm the cure” Marion 'Cobra' Cobretti
In 83 minutes of the show 52 people are killed, 41 of whom by Cobra himself!
2) terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991)
Song: Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood (1982)
The franchise started in 1984, and it is still charming today. Many consider the 2nd movie the best in the series; this song from the 80s fits perfectly the iconic arrival of the Terminator in the film.
“Hasta la vista, baby!” - T-800
The required CGI works made the production the highest budget movie at that time, and it was a success of both critics and audience.
3) Rocky IV (1985)
Song: No Easy Way Out by Robert Tepper (1985)
So many good tracks from the Rocky franchise that is difficult to pick one! This movie is written, directed and starred by Stallone. Although it came out during the cold war and it is a quite nationalistic movie, it delivers a message of peace in the finale.
“ If I can change and you can change, everybody can change!" - Rocky Balboa
Among the tracks worth mentioning I would suggest Heart On Fire (by John Cafferty), Eye Of The Tiger and Burning Heart (both by Survivor).
4) Rambo: First Blood (1982)
Song: It's a Long Road by Jerry Goldsmiths (1982)
It is an adaption of the novel 'First Blood' of David Morrell, and it was a massive box office success. The movie has influenced the whole action genre, and it is considered the best of the series, especially for the 'humanization' of the main character.
“ Don't Push it. Don't push it, or I'll give you war you won't believe" - John Rambo
The song fits so well the character that it has been used for the following iterations since, and we could not agree more!
5) Top Gun (1986)
Song: Danger Zone by Kenny Logging (1986)
A very good cast for the movie that made Tom Cruise a Hollywood star. The Top Gun soundtrack is one of the most popular to date, and the song 'Take My Breath Away', by Berlin, won several awards of 'best original song'. Brian Adams, considered for the participation in the music cast, refused because he thought the movie glorified war.
“Sorry, Goose, but it's time to buzz the tower” - Maverick
The success of the movie started the fashion of bomber jackets and Ray-Ban Aviator sunglasses. Moreover, in that year, the US navy registered the highest number of volunteers since Pearl Harbour.
Hope you have enjoyed!
